THAI Airways International has selected the Trent 900 to power its fleet of six Airbus A380s in a deal valued at $500 million at engine list prices. The aircraft are due to be delivered from late 2010 onwards, and the engines will be backed by a long-term, TotalCare services agreement, based on an agreed dollar fee per engine flying hour. The Trent 900 will become the fourth member of the Trent family to join the THAI Airways International fleet.

THAI was the launch customer for the Trent 800 on both the -200 and -300 versions of the Boeing 777 and has 20 aircraft in its fleet which also includes the Trent-powered -200ER version. The airline also operates the Trent 500, supported by a TotalCare® agreement on 10 Airbus A340-500 and -600s.

The Trent 900 now has 58% of firm and option orders for the A380.
