Baltic Ground Services (BGS), an international provider of ground handling and into-plane fuelling services, has announced the successful certification of a new glycerine-based Type I de-icing fluid Defrosol ADF. The utilized materials allow to offer the market a lower-priced eco-friendly alternative. Baltic Ground Services will become the first ground handling provider to develop, certificate and produce its own eco-friendly Type I deicing fluid in Europe. Certified in May 2013 by AMIL, a Canadian research laboratory and SMI, a Florida-based global leader in aerospace material testing, Defrosol ADF is to enter the market as a Type I deicing fluid based on natural materials gained from renewable sources. The utilization of glycerin instead of mono propylene glycol in a chemical composition of the fluid allows to lower carbon emission during the deicing process thus substantially decreasing the environmental impact. Further to ecologically advantageous characteristic, Defrosol ADF also comes with low aquatic toxicity as well as better anti-corrosion characteristics. The Type I deicing fluid is intended for snow, frost and other ice structure removal from aircraft. The batch production of the fluid is expected to be launched as soon as in Autumn 2013. Baltic Ground Services is planning to start using Defrosol ADF in the Winter season 2013/2014.
