Ameco completes Sharklet retrofit on A321 aircraft

Ameco completed Sharklet retrofit on an Airbus A321 aircraft in its Chengdu facility. It is the first time for Ameco performing Sharklets program on A320 family aircraft. The retrofit was to replace triangular-shaped wingtip devices by installing Sharklet wingtip devices, which was carried out during a scheduled check of the aircraft layover to shorten the turnaround time. After a smooth retrofit process, the aircraft was put into operation. Ameco Chengdu Branch launched the retrofit preparation in 2015 and now it holds CAAC approval on A320 family aircraft Sharklet retrofit. Operators of Sharklet retrofitted aircraft will benefit from a reduction in fuel costs by up to 4% and increased mission range by up to 100 nautical miles. Meanwhile, a similar work of winglet modifications on Boeing manufactured aircraft is going on at Ameco’s Beijing Base. Starting in March of 2016, Beijing Base is performing winglet modifications for an undisclosed carrier’s three Boeing aircraft and has already completed winglets installation on one aircraft. Ameco is a specialist on Boeing winglets modification and has performed this work on nine aircraft during 2009 to 2010.
