Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques (SITA) and Airbus have combined resources to create new Security Operations Center Services which have been specifically tailored to meet the needs of the air transport industry. The detection services offered relate specifically to providing airlines, airports and others connected with the industry with specific information relating to unusual cyber activity.
The development of these services heavily reflect the results of SITA’s Airline IT Trends Survey 2016, which revealed that 91% of airlines intend to invest in cybersecurity programs within the next three years.
With over 400 customers, virtually every major airline uses the services of SITA which provides the most extensive communications network across the world. Airbus works in conjunction with many companies, critical national infrastructures, governments and defence organizations to detect, analyze and counter increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks. The two enterprises’ combined resources will now offer appropriate containment and remedial action ensuring that a company’s digital assets are safe from attack.
According to SITA’s CEO, Barbara Dalibard, “As an industry we need to move faster in developing new cybersecurity solutions that mitigate the risk of ever-changing threats. This requires constant collaboration and innovation. With SITA and Airbus CyberSecurity uniquely placed at the heart of the air transport industry, we can facilitate innovation and information-sharing through services such as the Security Operations Center Service, providing solutions our customers demand and need.”
Additional to creating a customized portfolio for the air transport industry, in 2016 SITA identified cybersecurity as one of five principal areas where it will explore new solutions on behalf of its members and the wider air transport community.
