Chorus Aviation has announced an agreement to acquire Elisen & Associates Inc., a respected Montreal-based provider of aerospace engineering and certification services. Founded in 1997 by Stephane Durand and Taif Rahman, Elisen has cultivated a robust reputation for its expertise in highly technical aerospace projects. Its portfolio spans modifications for commercial, business and rotary aircraft, defence-related undertakings and innovations in sustainable aviation.
The company's experience includes support and development work for major aerospace names such as Airbus, Bell, Bombardier, Gulfstream and Lear, particularly in relation to the Airbus A220 and special mission aircraft. Despite the acquisition, Elisen will continue to operate under the leadership of its founders, Stephane Durand and Taif Rahman, who are staying on to guide the company's future growth.
Chorus President and CEO Colin Copp highlighted the strategic benefits of the acquisition, noting that Elisen's engineering talent and established industry ties will enhance Chorus' capabilities in defence and specialised maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services. He emphasised Elisen's prime location within Montreal's vibrant aerospace cluster as a further advantage.
The acquisition, funded through Chorus' available cash reserves, is expected to be completed before year-end, pending regulatory notifications and customary closing conditions. Financially, the deal is not projected to materially affect Chorus' overall revenue, earnings or balance sheet.
