8tree, a global leader in 3-D surface inspection technology, has announced the continued adoption and expansion of its dentCHECK tooling within British Airways’ maintenance operations.
A long-standing user of dentCHECK since 2017, British Airways deploys the technology across both line and base maintenance to accelerate and standardise damage inspection and reporting. In 2025, the airline further strengthened its digital inspection capability with three additional dentCHECK units — one in Glasgow, supporting base maintenance at its narrow-body facility, and two at London Heathrow, serving both line and base maintenance. This expansion highlighted British Airways’ ongoing commitment to operational excellence, safety and innovation.
Specifically designed for the aviation maintenance environment, dentCHECK is an augmented reality-enabled, handheld 3-D dent-mapping tool recognised and approved by major OEMs, including Airbus, Boeing and Embraer. The system enables airlines and MROs to complete inspections up to 90% faster, while generating SRM-compliant, fully traceable digital reports with up to 20-times greater consistency than traditional manual methods.
British Airways’ adoption of dentCHECK forms part of its wider strategy to digitise and optimise MRO processes, supporting faster decision-making and enhanced inspection traceability across its engineering network.
