New titanium screws for large commercial aircraft produced by Monogram

TriMas Corporation – a diversified manufacturer of engineered and applied products – reported that its Monogram Aerospace Fasteners business unit has developed the capability to produce seven types of titanium screws used by large, commercial airframe manufacturers. Airframe manufacturers are increasingly turning to titanium aerospace parts because of the metal’s light weight and its galvanic compatibility with carbon fiber reinforced composite structures. Composite-based aircraft structures are used on the newest civil aircraft programs, such as the Boeing 787, Airbus A350 and Bombardier’s new C-Series airliners. Titanium parts also have widespread applications in military programs like Lockheed’s new F-35 Lightning II fighter jet.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Monogram designs, develops and manufactures highly-engineered specialty fasteners for the aerospace industry, as well as replacement and maintenance parts for aftermarket sales and service. The company is also the leading manufacturer of permanent blind bolts for aircraft assembly and temporary fasteners for aircraft construction.
