ExelTech Aerospace has signed an LOI to finalize membership of the newly formed SuperJet International authorized service center network. SuperJet International, incorporated in Italy has worked with ExelTech Aerospace to participate in their heavy maintenance and modifications MRO network program for their new to market SSJ100 aircraft program.

Jet Aviation announces the appointment of Jakob Straub as new vice president and general manager of the company’s Zurich maintenance and FBO operations effective July 1, 2009. He will succeed interim general manager Paul Kempf, director quality control and chief inspector, who will facilitate Straub’s introduction to his new responsibilities during a transition period. World Airways, a subsidiary of Global Aviation Holding, has signed an agreement with Arrow Cargo to operate two MD-11F aircraft on a full-time basis for air cargo service between Miami, Central America and South America. World is already operating one aircraft for Arrow Cargo, with the second to operate from July through December 2009.

Airbus, its parent company EADS and the Russian Technologies State Corporation’s integrated structure VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, the Russian Titanium manufacturer, have signed the biggest and longest-term contract in the history of Airbus/EADS cooperation with Russian industry. TAM’s cargo unit, TAM Cargo, and TAP Cargo signed a contract during Intermodal South America 2009, that expands the range of destinations served by both companies’ cargo operations. TAM Cargo will serve 15 new locations in Europe and Africa. TAP Cargo will in turn be able to deliver cargo to 15 additional destinations throughout Brazil

Constant Aviation, LLC, a Nextant Aerospace company located at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, has received the Transport Canada Civil Aviation Directorate Supplement (TCCA). This rating now authorizes Constant to perform and sign off maintenance for any Canadian registered aircraft.

The statutory trade-union discussions regarding notices of termination of employment for 250 Volvo Aero personnel concluded in agreement. Active Aero Services has earned its 14 CFR, Part 145 Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This certificate provides authority to perform aircraft, power plant and limited avionics maintenance services to other companies and individuals at its Willow Run Airport facilities.

Alaska Airlines reported that it has reached a tentative agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) on a new, four-year contract for the carrier’s 1,455 pilots. The proposed contract will now be presented to Alaska’s pilots for review and a ratification vote, which is expected to be completed by the third week in May.
