SAS decreased its scheduled capacity in September by 0.1%. The traffic, however, increased by 0.6%, primarily driven by growth on intercontinental routes. The load factor improved 0.6 points to 77.2% when compared to September 2014.

In September, Finnair’s overall capacity grew by 2.5% and traffic grew by 4.4% year-on-year. The passenger load factor increased by 1.4%-points to 81.6% compared to the same period in 2014.

For the month of September, Air Canada reported a system-wide capacity increase of 11.5% and a load factor of 83.6%, down 1.1 points compared to the same period in 2014. On this additional capacity, system wide traffic for September increased 10.1%.

WestJet announced September 2015 traffic results with a load factor of 77.4% up 1.5 points, while traffic increased 7.8% year over year, and capacity grew 5.9% ovr the same period.

Alaska reported a 9.8% increase in traffic on a 10.2% increase in capacity compared to September 2014. This resulted in a 0.3 point decrease in load factor to 81.8%. For the month of September Delta reported system traffic increase of 2.4%, while capacity for the month was up 0.9% compared to the same period the previous year. The load factor for September increased 1.3 points to 85%.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global passenger traffic results for August showing a continuation of the strong growth in air travel demand for both domestic and international traffic. Southwest Airlines reported its August traffic statistics with August traffic up 7.5% compared to August 2014 and a 7.6% increase in capacity. Load factor was 85.4%, compared with 85.5% in August 2014.

SAS reported that traffic for August 2015 was down 1.1%, while capacity for the month decreased 0.3%, compared to the same period in 2014. The load factor for August was 80.5%, down 0.7 points compared to the previous year.

Norwegian’s traffic increased by 9% in August while capacity increased 1% compared to the previous year. The load factor was 89.7%, up a solid 6.1 points from the same month last year.
