Alaska reported a 9.7% increase in traffic, on a 5.8% increase in capacity compared to February 2011. This resulted in a 3.0-point increase in load factor to 84.5%. Horizon’s traffic declined 11.9% in February, while capacity declined 11.3% compared to February 2011. This resulted in a 0.5-point decrease in load factor to 76.5%.

US Airways Group reported February 2012 traffic increase of 7.9% versus February 2011. Mainline capacity was up 5.8% versus February 2011, mainline load factor was a record 78.3% for the month of February, up 1.5 points versus February 2011.
Frontier Airlines reported the appointment of John Bendoraitis as chief operating officer of the Denver-based carrier. An experienced airline executive and operations professional, Bendoraitis brings nearly 30 years of industry experience to the position. He served as president of Comair Airlines since 2008 where he led the reorganization of the airline’s cost structure.
