Southwest Airlines has confirmed the approval of a collective bargaining agreement with the Transport Workers Union Local 555 (TWU 555) for nearly 18,000 of its ramp, operations, provisioning and cargo agents. This agreement covers the second-largest group of employees among the airline’s 12 labour agreements.
Adam Carlisle, Vice President of Labor Relations at Southwest Airlines, emphasised the significance of these employees, stating, “Our Ramp, Operations, Provisioning, and Cargo Agents play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and are integral to the Southwest experience.” He further noted that the new labour contract acknowledges their contributions and ensures their competitiveness within the industry.
The ratified contract includes various benefits such as salary increases, bonuses and provisions that enable Southwest Airlines to invest in operational efficiency. Additionally, the company has committed to providing paid maternity and parental leaves. The agreement with TWU 555 will remain in effect until March 21, 2029.

Furthermore, Southwest Airlines announced on Wednesday, March 21, that it reached a tentative agreement with the union representing its flight attendants.
