Collins Aerospace (Collins) has appointed Phill Godfrey as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), succeeding former Collins CSO LeAnn Ridgeway upon her retirement.
In his new capacity, Godfrey will spearhead the implementation of sustainable strategies across Collins’ six strategic business units. Collins is pioneering innovative sustainable technologies such as hybrid-electric propulsion, lighter and more efficient aircraft systems, and intelligent routing to support the commercial aviation sector in achieving its objective of net-zero emissions by 2050.
As CSO, Godfrey is tasked with executing Collins’ sustainable technology roadmap, liaising with customers, policymakers, and industry partners, and integrating sustainable practices into Collins’ operations and supply chain. Additionally, Godfrey represents Collins on the RTX Environmental, Social and Governance committee.
With almost three decades of experience in the aerospace industry, Godfrey has developed a collaborative and robust leadership approach through various change management and functional roles. His most recent position was Director of Sustainability Strategy at Collins, where he reported to the CSO and was responsible for crafting company-wide sustainability strategies for stakeholder engagement. Before this, he held progressively senior roles across various Collins businesses, including actuation, engine controls and aftermarket. His extensive experience equips him with a unique perspective to implement holistic sustainability strategies throughout the company.
Godfrey has been acknowledged by the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG) for establishing and leading international teams dedicated to voluntary sustainability standards in the aerospace industry supply chain. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in manufacturing systems from the University of Nottingham.
