Jens Fehlinger will become the new CEO of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) on October 1, 2024, succeeding Dieter Vranckx, who will join the Lufthansa Group Executive Board on July 1, 2024.
Fehlinger began his career with the Lufthansa Group in 2006, holding various management roles. He has overseen strategy and business development at Lufthansa Airlines and operational performance management for Lufthansa Group. During the COVID pandemic, he led the Group's crisis management office and subsequently headed the ReNew restructuring project. Recently, Fehlinger has served as Co-Managing Director of Lufthansa Cityline while also establishing Lufthansa City Airlines as Managing Director.
Fehlinger is a qualified commercial pilot for the Airbus A320 and currently flies for Lufthansa Cityline. He holds a graduate degree in Aviation Systems Engineering and Management from the University of Bremen and a master's degree in Traffic and Transport from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He also earned an Executive MBA from the IE Business School in Madrid.
Heike Birlenbach, Chief Commercial Officer SWISS, will act as interim CEO until Fehlinger takes over.
