Rolls-Royce wins order for 60 Trent 7000 engines from Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific has placed an order for 60 Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines to power its newly ordered fleet of 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft. Concurrently, the airline has signed a TotalCare service agreement to cover this fleet.

TotalCare offers operational certainty by transferring time-on-wing and maintenance cost risks to Rolls-Royce. This premium service is supported by data from Rolls-Royce’s advanced engine health monitoring system, enhancing operational availability, reliability, and efficiency. The Trent 7000, the latest addition to the Rolls-Royce Trent family, exclusively powers the Airbus A330neo. Since entering service at the end of 2018, the engine has flown over two million hours, demonstrating exceptional reliability, sustainable performance, and versatility.

Incorporating next-generation technology, the A330neo/Trent 7000 combination achieves a 14% improvement in aircraft fuel burn per seat compared to the A330/Trent 700, while significantly reducing emissions.

Rolls-Royce is investing over £1 billion (US$1.28 billion) in a programme to further enhance the Trent engine family. For the Trent 7000, a durability enhancement package has been introduced, doubling engine time on wing. Additionally, a second package of hot-section enhancements is expected to deliver up to a 30% improvement.

The Trent 7000 is certified to operate on a 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend and has been proven compatible with 100% SAF for future use.
