Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings is expanding its fleet with the addition of three Boeing 747-8 freighters to meet the growing global demand for large wide-body airfreight capacity, particularly in cross-border e-commerce shipping.
The three new 747-8Fs, secured through long-term finance lease agreements with BOC Aviation, are expected to enter service in late Q3 2024.
“Demand remains strong for dedicated large wide-body freighters and with our robust pipeline, we will place these aircraft with customers under attractive long-term agreements. Through our continued investment in innovation and our fleet, we enhance operational flexibility, deliver world-class service, and remain a trusted partner to our customers,” said Michael Steen, Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Air Worldwide.
Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BOC Aviation, commented, “Atlas manages the world’s largest fleet of Boeing 747 freighters and is ideally positioned to partner with us in the operation of these latest-generation aircraft. As global airfreight volumes reach record levels, this transaction underscores our ability to provide capacity solutions to a diverse range of airline customers.”
