The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) will suspend commercial passenger operations at Orlando International Airport (MCO) from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9th, and at Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8th, as Hurricane Milton approaches Central Florida.
Although commercial flights will cease, the airports will remain open for emergency, aid, and relief flights as necessary, resuming regular operations once damage assessments are complete. Preparations such as sandbagging doors and securing boarding bridges are underway, and GOAA continues to coordinate with local and national emergency management authorities.
GOAA emphasises that MCO is not an authorised shelter and cannot accommodate local residents during the hurricane. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updates on flight schedules. The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is currently at Level 2 and will shift to Level 1 activation at 7 a.m. on Wednesday as staff continue to monitor the storm’s progress and adjust plans accordingly.
