Sunaero has announced the acquisition of RJ Aero and Japa Aero Design, two well-established companies in the aircraft maintenance industry, specialising in structural and cabin services. This strategic move aligns with Sunaero’s growth plan and strengthens its position as a leading provider of mobile and technological aeronautical maintenance services, particularly in metal and composite structures, as well as fuel tank repairs.

The addition of RJ Aero and Japa Aero Design’s teams will enhance Sunaero’s capabilities by bringing in specialised technical knowledge and expertise. This integration will foster synergies within the group, boosting the efficiency and breadth of services offered to customers. As a result, clients will benefit from a more comprehensive, high-performance range of solutions.

“By combining our expertise and our teams, we are able to offer our customers a complete and unique range of services,” said Georges Gomes, Managing Director EMEA of the MRO Services division. “This includes metal and composite structural repairs, tank leak testing and fuel leak repair, cabin and galley retrofitting, and non-destructive testing. We work on both aircraft and components, and on all types of civil and military equipment.”

Sunaero now operates from three locations in France (CDG-ORY-Le Bourget, Lyon, Clermont-Ferrand), three in the USA (Cincinnati OH, Miami FL, Nashville TN), and one in Malaysia. Its teams are capable of worldwide deployment, offering a range of aeronautical maintenance services for civil and military aircraft, including structural, cabin, non-destructive testing, and tank services, whether for scheduled maintenance or emergency AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations.

The Sunaero Group expects to achieve sales of around €30 million in 2024 and employs 230 people globally, including more than 170 aeronautical technicians. The company holds EN9110 certification, along with Part 145.C EASA, FAA, and EMAR approvals across its various entities.
