General Atomics AeroTec Systems GmbH (GA-ATS) has announced the successful certification of its in-house Do228 flight simulator to FTD Level 2, a notable advancement for the company and testament to the expertise of its team. This certification, an upgrade from the simulator's previous FNPTII level, represents a milestone in GA-ATS's commitment to cutting-edge pilot training.
The simulator is a fixed-based device replicating the Do228 NG turboprop, known for its versatility in passenger, cargo, and specialised mission flights. Offering a high degree of realism, the simulator allows pilots to practise responses to various global weather conditions and aircraft fault scenarios, accurately replicating flight characteristics and control dynamics within an authentic cockpit environment.
“High-quality, consistent training is essential for aircraft safety, which is why GA-ATS continually expands its training options to provide direct, state-of-the-art instruction from the manufacturer,” stated Erik Bollen, Managing Director of GA-ATS. This commitment supports safety by enabling pilots to handle emergency situations, such as engine failures, in a controlled setting, providing crucial experience without real-world risks.
Alongside GA-ATS's certified flight school (ATO) and seasoned instructors, the simulator training offers tailored, manufacturer-informed instruction on the Do228, ensuring the highest quality of pilot readiness. With new production of the Do228 NXT underway, GA-ATS has developed a comprehensive training programme, covering everything from initial training to advanced courses for flight instructors.
This FTD Level 2 certification reinforces GA-ATS's dedication to upholding the highest standards in aviation training and safety, benefiting customers through top-tier training for the Do228 aircraft.
