The Airbus SE Board of Directors will propose to shareholders at the 2025 annual general meeting to renew Guillaume Faury’s role as CEO and Executive Member of the Board. Alongside this, the company has initiated a leadership transition in its Commercial Aircraft division. Lars Wagner, the current CEO of MTU Aero Engines AG, has been appointed as the next CEO of Airbus’s Commercial Aircraft business. Wagner will join the Airbus Executive Committee following his term at MTU, succeeding Christian Scherer.
Guillaume Faury expressed enthusiasm about Wagner’s return to Airbus, highlighting Wagner’s industry expertise as an asset to Airbus’s leadership. Faury noted that Scherer, who has held a 40-year tenure at Airbus, will remain in his role to ensure a smooth handover to Wagner, with both leaders working closely during the transition. Scherer, who praised Wagner’s capabilities and longstanding familiarity with the company, affirmed his own commitment to Airbus’s strategic goals and pledged his full support to the transition plan.
