Brussels Airlines has announced that it will welcome three more Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet by summer 2026. The A320neo consumes less fuel, produces up to 20% less CO2 emissions, and offers a 50% reduction in noise compared to previous-generation aircraft. This will bring the total number of A320neo aircraft in the Brussels Airlines fleet to eight.
On November 1, 2023, Brussels Airlines received its first Airbus A320neo, directly from the Airbus factory in Toulouse. This marked a milestone for the airline, as it was the first time in its history that brand-new aircraft had joined the fleet.
Brussels Airlines currently operates five A320neos and announced that three more aircraft of this type will be added to the fleet by summer 2026. These state-of-the-art aircraft will replace two older A319 aircraft, while the third unit will serve to expand the fleet.
“Being able to add extra brand-new aircraft is a win-win-win: by replacing older aircraft by the most fuel-efficient aircraft on the market, we reduce our impact on the environment. We are also growing our fleet, which creates extra jobs and improves connectivity for Belgium. And last but not least: the A320neo is a joy to fly, both for passengers and crew, thanks to it's upgraded, comfortable cabins, the quietness during the flight and additional space for hand luggage.” comments Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO, Brussels Airlines.
Fleet renewal is a key part of Brussels Airlines' strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. The A320neo reduces CO2 emissions by up to 20% compared to its predecessor. As Brussels Airlines replaces smaller A319 aircraft with the A320neo, the benefits are even greater, with reductions of up to 30% per passenger.
