Atlantic Aviation has revealed its acquisition of Ferrovial Vertiports, previously owned by global infrastructure company Ferrovial. This move reinforces Atlantic Aviation's dedication to developing sustainable infrastructure for advanced air mobility (AAM) operations. By integrating expertise in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) infrastructure with its established position in the FBO (fixed-base operator) sector, the company aims to drive innovation in the industry.
Vertiports are designated areas designed for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to take off, hover, and land in urban, suburban, and rural settings. These facilities aim to enhance regional connectivity while providing a more sustainable, low-emission transport option. Following its acquisition by Atlantic Aviation, Ferrovial Vertiports will now operate under the name VertiPorts by Atlantic. The existing leadership team will continue to play a key role in developing eVTOL sites across the United States, using their proprietary methodology to identify optimal locations for new vertiports and connect communities across the country.
Atlantic Aviation, a forward-thinking FBO network, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to advancing eVTOL infrastructure. This includes the installation of electric aircraft charging stations at an increasing number of its FBO locations and undertaking utility upgrades at New York's renowned 34th Street Heliport to support eVTOL operations in the region. With this latest acquisition, Atlantic Aviation strengthens its position as a leader in advanced air mobility (AAM), leveraging its vision, resources, and expertise to develop a comprehensive network of eVTOL sites.
“We see tremendous long-term benefits and growth in building out infrastructure to support the advanced air mobility space,” said Jeff Foland, Chief Executive Officer at Atlantic Aviation. “The combination of our operational expertise with the outstanding work the Ferrovial Vertiports team has done so far will serve as a tremendous boost to safe and efficient eVTOL operations as the network develops.”
“Vertiports will be an essential element in Atlantic Aviation's development of sustainable solutions and state-of-the art aviation services.” added Luke Bugeja, Chief Executive Officer of Ferrovial Airports.
