Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has officially opened a new customer support service centre at Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona. The facility was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Gulfstream leaders, employees and state and local dignitaries.
The 225,000 ft² (20,908 m²) maintenance, repair and overhaul facility represents a US$130 million investment. Announced in 2021, it began limited operations in 2022, with additional hangar space added in late 2023. The Mesa Service Centre can accommodate up to 13 large-cabin Gulfstream aircraft, providing maintenance, avionics services, inspections and drop-in support. It complements Gulfstream's existing Mesa west campus, which supports ten large- and mid-cabin aircraft.
Gulfstream's Mesa operations have already created over 250 jobs, with plans to add 100 more in 2024. The company has also partnered with local educational institutions to offer apprenticeship and internship programmes to develop a skilled workforce.
“The opening of Gulfstream's new Mesa Service Centre aligns with our strategic vision to provide the industry's most modern service network, sustainably designed to serve our customers where and when they need us,” said Mark Burns, President, Gulfstream.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the facility is on track to achieve LEED Silver certification. Its construction prioritised recycled and low-emission materials, energy efficiency, and water conservation. The campus includes a 30,000-gallon tank for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends, furthering Gulfstream's commitment to environmentally friendly operations.
