Panasonic Avionics has announced the launch of a new software centre of excellence in Portland, Oregon.
Portland joins Panasonic Avionics' network of global engineering hubs, which includes facilities in Irvine, California; Malmö, Sweden; Osaka, Japan and Pune and Mumbai in India. The Pune centre, established in July 2024, was further bolstered by a new software support team in Mumbai. The addition of the Portland facility aims to leverage the region's highly skilled workforce of software engineers and developers, further driving innovation in the IFEC sector.
The Portland hub will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's vision of creating personalised digital engagement experiences for airlines and passengers. It will focus on developing transformative In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) solutions that not only enhance passenger satisfaction but also streamline airline operations and lower lifecycle costs.
Initially staffed with a core team of engineers specialising in Linux® and Android™ operating systems, the new centre will contribute significantly to the development of next-generation software platforms. By integrating cutting-edge solutions and self-service enterprise software tools, Panasonic Avionics is equipping airlines with the means to meet their evolving digital engagement objectives.
