Air India and Virgin Australia have announced a new codeshare partnership, enhancing connectivity between India and Australia. Under the agreement, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Virgin Australia-operated flights, offering passengers seamless onward connections to 16 destinations across Australia and New Zealand when travelling from Delhi to Melbourne or Sydney.
This partnership allows Air India customers to book their entire journey on a single ticket, ensuring baggage is checked through to their final destination. The airline currently operates 14 weekly non-stop flights between Delhi and Australia, using Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which feature 18 flat-bed seats in business class and 238 spacious economy-class seats.
Virgin Australia will provide passengers with access to premium business- and economy-class cabins on its domestic and regional routes. The 16 destinations covered in the codeshare include Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Gold Coast, Perth, Queenstown (New Zealand), and more.
This agreement strengthens Air India’s presence in the Australia-Pacific region while improving travel options for passengers seeking convenient, world-class service across both airlines’ networks.
