General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS) has reached a new milestone in Do228 pilot training with the successful certification of its Do228 Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) as FTD Level 2. In response, GA-ATS has upgraded all training programmes within its approved training organisation (ATO) to incorporate this state-of-the-art flight simulator, setting new benchmarks for practical and efficient pilot training for the Do228 special mission aircraft.
GA-ATS now offers a range of EASA-approved training courses that fully utilise the FSTD, catering to both new and experienced pilots. These courses combine simulator flight hours with subsequent training on the real aircraft, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
Notably, the company has secured approval for type rating training on the Do228 NG / NXT aircraft, alongside refresher and differences training courses. Additionally, GA-ATS is now authorised to train flight instructors for this aircraft type, further expanding its training capabilities.
A key innovation is the introduction of multi-crew flight operations training, which enhances realism and provides practical experience for crews operating in complex environments. With this new certification and the expansion of its training programmes, GA-ATS strengthens its position a leading training organisation for Do228 pilots. The advanced flight simulator offers a realistic, safe and cost-effective training environment, ensuring pilots are fully prepared for real flight operations with the expertise of the Do228 OEM.
