Norse Atlantic Airlines (Norse), the Norwegian low-cost, long-haul carrier established in 2021, has taken a major technological leap by implementing the ULTRAMAIN ELB (electronic logbook) across its fleet. The airline has officially received operational approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Norway (CAA Norway) and has successfully gone live with the system across its 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
In a move towards fully digitised maintenance operations, Norse Atlantic has replaced traditional paper-based technical, cabin, journey and fuelling logs with ULTRAMAIN ELB on iPads. This transition enhances efficiency by allowing real-time reporting from flight and cabin crew, utilising the system's tailored fault repository for the B787. The new system is expected to reduce deferral rates, improve operational service levels and lower overall maintenance costs.
“ULTRAMAIN ELB is a dream to work with; you have so much control using the fleet dashboard regarding status and history,” remarked Norse Atlantic Airways' maintenance operations control (MOC) team, highlighting the benefits of the new system.
Tim Spears, Vice President of the Onboard Systems division at Ultramain Systems, commented on the collaboration: “Nothing energises us more than seeing a new customer transition to ULTRAMAIN ELB. Norse Atlantic's all-B787 fleet has allowed us to configure the ELB precisely to their operational needs, ensuring seamless integration for both scheduled and charter flights. The teamwork between our project teams has been outstanding, leading to an efficient implementation. We look forward to supporting Norse and witnessing the long-term benefits ELB brings to their operations.”
With this digital shift, Norse Atlantic Airlines is positioning itself at the forefront of aviation innovation, optimising fleet management and ensuring smoother operations as it continues expanding across Europe, the U.S., and Asia.
