Bombardier has announced the development of a new service facility at Al Bateen Executive Abu Dhabi Airport, United Arab Emirates (UAE), further expanding its global maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. This new facility marks a strong collaboration with Abu Dhabi Airports, drawing on their expertise and dedication to aviation excellence.
Originally planned for Abu Dhabi International Airport in 2022, the facility has now been relocated to Al Bateen Executive Airport to better align with the needs of Bombardier's customer base in the region. The move underscores Bombardier's ongoing commitment to supporting clients in this key market.
Once fully operational, the OEM service facility is expected to create around 100 aerospace jobs in Abu Dhabi, further strengthening Bombardier's presence in the region. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025, with completion and operational launch anticipated in the second half of 2026.
“This location is strategically aligned with all our aftermarket priorities and perfectly matches the needs of our discerning customer base. Our customers are accustomed to receiving an exceptional service experience wherever they are in the world, and this new facility in this dynamic financial hub will ensure they continue to receive the best service experience possible.” comments Paul Sislian, Executive Vice President, Aftermarket Services and Strategy at Bombardier.
“This move represents a strategic alignment, given the airport's dedicated focus on business aviation and its ability to provide a seamless and efficient experience for Bombardier's clientele. This facility will further affirm Abu Dhabi's position as a leading aviation hub and contribute significantly to the region's economic growth. We are confident this collaboration will drive mutual success for both Bombardier and Abu Dhabi Airports.” adds Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abu Dhabi Airports.
Bombardier's newly relocated Abu Dhabi Service Facility, spanning approximately 120,000 ft², will include a 55,000 ft² hangar, a parts depot, and a full range of maintenance services—including scheduled and unscheduled heavy maintenance, aircraft modifications, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support.
The facility will be equipped to service Bombardier's Global 7500, as well as the forthcoming Global 8000—set to enter service in the second half of 2025. It will offer a comprehensive service solution for Bombardier's Learjet, Challenger, and Global aircraft families, serving both regional and international customers.
