airBaltic Training, a subsidiary of the Latvian national airline airBaltic and an aviation training provider in the Baltics, has announced its 2024 performance results, showcasing notable growth in training activity, strategic development of services and increased revenue.
In 2024, the company generated nearly €5.5 million (US$6.3 million) in operating revenue — a 13% year-on-year increase. It also recorded a positive financial result of close to €190,000 (US$216,600). Over the year, more than 120 pilot students trained with airBaltic Training's certified training fleet, which includes ten aircraft (nine Diamond DA40s and one Diamond DA42). The company achieved a new record for initial flight training, clocking nearly 7,900 flight hours — an 80% rise compared to the previous year.
In addition, full-flight simulator training hours reached a record 5,800 in 2024. A key strategic milestone was the installation and certification of a second Airbus A220 full-flight simulator at the airBaltic Training Centre, significantly enhancing capacity to accommodate both airBaltic pilots and external clients. This development supports growing demand and aligns with the airline's long-term fleet strategy, with airBaltic currently operating 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft and aiming to double that number to 100 by 2030.
At present, there are 163 active students enrolled at the airBaltic Pilot Academy. While the majority are from the Baltic states, the Academy also hosts students from across the European Union, including Denmark, Germany, France, Finland, Spain and Italy. Notably, over ten percent of the Academy's students are female. To date, 131 graduates have gone on to join airBaltic as professional pilots.
airBaltic Training also expanded its PART-147 certified maintenance training in 2024, delivering approximately 45% more courses year-on-year. The company increased its intake for entry-level programmes aimed at aspiring maintenance personnel. Meanwhile, its partnership with Liepāja State Technical School continued to thrive, with 65 new students enrolling in September 2024 for the school's aviation mechanics programme.
