Spirit Aviation Holdings, parent company of Spirit Airlines (Spirit), has announced the appointment of Dave Davis as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 21, 2025. Davis will also join the company's Board of Directors. He arrives from Sun Country Airlines, where he served as President, Chief Financial Officer and Board member. His earlier experience includes senior roles at Northwest Airlines.
Robert Milton, Chairman of Spirit Airlines, expressed confidence in the appointment, highlighting Davis's extensive airline industry experience and successful track record. Davis, in turn, shared his enthusiasm for joining the airline at a pivotal moment, expressing a strong commitment to working with Spirit's 11,000+ team members to create value for guests, shareholders, and the wider community.
Spirit has also made two other significant leadership appointments. Duncan Dee has been named Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications. Dee brings considerable industry expertise, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Air Canada and as a recognised aviation analyst on Canadian media outlets such as CBC, CTV, and Global News.
In addition, Trey Urbahn has been appointed Senior Commercial Advisor. With a career spanning five airlines across four continents—including JetBlue, Etihad, Azul, TAP Air Portugal and Breeze—Urbahn will provide strategic support for Spirit's commercial operations. His remit includes network planning, pricing, yield management and onboard product development.
These leadership changes are part of Spirit's ongoing transformation as the airline strengthens its executive team to navigate future growth and improve its market position.
