IndiGo has announced the appointment of Michael Whitaker as an Independent Director, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. Whitaker most recently served as Administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the body responsible for overseeing air safety, efficiency and the national air traffic system. He stepped down from the role in January this year.
With more than three decades of aviation experience, Whitaker has held senior roles across the industry, including Chief Operating Officer at Supernal, Hyundai's advanced air mobility arm, Deputy Administrator of the FAA and Senior Vice President of Alliances, International and Regulatory Affairs at United Airlines. He began his aviation career as a lawyer with Trans World Airlines in New York.

His focus on efficiency, operations, air safety as head of the FAA will reinforce IndiGo's longstanding focus on operating at the highest levels.
