Following a successful test flight, KF Aerospace has announced the completion of its first ATR 72-500F aircraft for Purolator’s British Columbia (BC) Feeder Network (Purolator). The aircraft, bearing manufacturer serial number MSN707, underwent a comprehensive passenger-to-freighter conversion over the past year at KF’s maintenance facility located at Kelowna International Airport (YLW). The aircraft has also been unveiled with a distinctive new livery, showcasing the iconic Purolator logo alongside the KF Aerospace emblem on the fuselage below the tail.

This newly converted freighter is the first of three ATR aircraft set to modernise Purolator’s BC Feeder Network, currently serviced by ageing Convair CV580s. The ATR 72-500F brings notable improvements in fuel efficiency, cargo capacity, and operational flexibility—ensuring reliable and sustainable freight delivery across British Columbia. KF Aerospace will operate the aircraft under its ongoing contract with Purolator, supporting the delivery of essential goods to communities throughout the province.

The new livery not only reflects Purolator’s brand identity but also commemorates the longstanding relationship between the two companies. KF Aerospace’s connection with Purolator dates back to 1976, when company founder Barry Lapointe personally flew a high-priority shipment from Vancouver to Toronto at Purolator’s request. Since then, KF has played a pivotal role in Purolator’s cargo operations, managing their entire Canadian network between 1994 and 2015, and maintaining their BC Feeder Network since 2015.

“This delivery marks an exciting step forward in our relationship with Purolator and our dedication to the continued success of the BC Feeder Network,” says KF Vice President of Business Development, Bryan Akerstream. “We are proud to provide Purolator with a turnkey fleet solution made possible by the diverse capabilities of our teams—from aircraft acquisition to major modifications, in-house painting and flight operations.”

This milestone reinforces KF Aerospace’s commitment to innovation in regional air cargo transport and its enduring partnership with one of Canada’s leading logistics providers.
