Brazilian aerospace and defence giant Embraer has taken a major step in reinforcing its commitment to India by establishing a wholly owned subsidiary in the country. The new entity will have its corporate headquarters located in AeroCity, New Delhi, marking a strategic move that reflects the company's long-term vision for growth and deeper collaboration within India's dynamic aerospace and defence sector.
The subsidiary aims to expand Embraer's presence across multiple domains, including defence, commercial and business aviation, services and support, and the emerging urban air mobility market. To support this initiative, the company is actively building its team in India, focusing on both core corporate functions and specialised units dedicated to procurement, supply chain and engineering.
“India is a key market for Embraer, and this expansion demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the country,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President & CEO of Embraer. He added that the company is eager to support India's development and its ‘Make in India' initiative by leveraging Embraer's technological expertise and operational experience.
Embraer already has a notable presence in India, with nearly 50 aircraft of 11 different types currently in operation across commercial, defence, and business aviation sectors. These are backed by an established service and support network within the country.
This latest move also strengthens the bilateral ties between Brazil and India, positioning Embraer as a key partner in India's aerospace growth. The announcement follows a February 2024 memorandum of understanding with Mahindra Defence Systems to explore joint participation in the Indian Air Force's Medium Transport Aircraft programme using the C-390 Millennium. Embraer's participation in the upcoming IATA AGM 2025 in New Delhi further underscores its strategic focus on engaging with key stakeholders in the Indian aviation ecosystem.
