China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) has signed a lease agreement with Uzbekistan Airways for the delivery of two new Airbus A321neo aircraft. Scheduled to be handed over in 2026, the aircraft will be sourced directly from CALC's Airbus orderbook and are intended to support the airlines' fleet modernisation and ongoing network expansion plans.
This latest agreement builds on the successful partnership established between the two parties in 2023, highlighting growing collaboration and mutual confidence. The deal is part of the carrier's broader strategy to improve the sustainability and quality of its services, aligning with the global aviation trend towards newer, more efficient aircraft.
Winnie Liu, President and Chief Commercial Officer of CALC, expressed enthusiasm over the continued partnership, stating, “This follow-on agreement reflects CALC's commitment to delivering tailored solutions that meet the evolving fleet and growth requirements of our airline partners.” She reaffirmed CALC's intention to support Uzbekistan Airways as it modernises and scales its operations.
From the perspective of Uzbekistan Airways, the lease is seen as a strategic move. Shukhrat Khudaykulov, Chairman of the Board at Uzbekistan Airways JSC, noted that the acquisition of the A321neo aircraft is “not just about fleet expansion — it is a significant step toward building a modern, competitive, and passenger-friendly aviation system.” He also emphasised that the new aircraft will improve passenger comfort and enhance the airline's route network.
