Over the next 12 months, Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas (Plus Ultra) will support flag carrier Air Algérie on its medium and long-haul routes. The agreement between the two airlines, under the ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) model, begins with the daily Algiers–Montreal service and involves the leasing of a Plus Ultra Airbus A330-200 aircraft along with its crew.
The deal also includes the potential to extend the Spanish airline's operations to other medium- and long-haul routes operated by Air Algérie. The ACMI model offers flexibility, allowing an airline's fleet to be swiftly adjusted to meet scheduling demands. Under this arrangement, the provider supplies the aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance. It represents one of Plus Ultra's fastest-growing business segments, alongside its scheduled services to Latin America, now contributing over 20% of its revenue.
Julio Martínez, President of Plus Ultra, stated that the agreement with Air Algérie, “strengthens the diversification of our company as a global provider of air solutions and reinforces Plus Ultra's position as an operator specialising in long-haul flights on our routes to Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Guinea, as well as tailor-made services for other airlines”.
