UNI Air, a subsidiary of EVA Air, has placed a firm order for 19 ATR 72-600 aircraft, along with options for three additional units. This is the largest ATR order since 2017 and represents UNI Air's second direct purchase from ATR following its 2011 order for 10 aircraft. The move underscores the continued confidence of UNI Air and its parent company, EVA Air, in ATR turboprops to effectively serve Taiwan's domestic air travel needs. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032.
This substantial investment will allow UNI Air not only to replace its current fleet of 14 ATR 72-600s but also to expand its operations significantly. The new aircraft will feature the latest advancements in turboprop technology, including next-generation PW127XT engines, an enhanced cabin design, and a new air management system. These upgrades are expected to deliver substantial benefits, such as greater fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, increased reliability, and a more comfortable passenger experience.
Operating chiefly from Taipei Songshan Airport, UNI Air plays a crucial role in connecting Taiwan's regions. It currently serves 11 destinations, including the outlying islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu, all using ATR aircraft. The airline's commitment to regional aviation helps maintain essential air links for local residents, tourists and businesses, while also supporting the national transport infrastructure.
