Acro Aircraft Seating has secured a contract with FlySafair to supply multiple shipsets of its Series 9 Fixed Back seats. This marks the first collaboration between the two companies, with FlySafair selecting the Series 9 for its Boeing 737 fleet after a thorough evaluation of seating options.
The Series 9 was launched in 2022 and is purpose-built to cater to the requirements of both low-cost and full-service airlines operating short- to medium-haul routes. Its design prioritises ergonomic comfort, offering passengers increased living space without increasing seat pitch. Importantly, it achieves this while maintaining a lightweight structure—an essential factor in operational efficiency—contributing to reduced fuel consumption and lower long-term maintenance costs. The seat’s minimal total cost of ownership has made it a sought-after solution since its release.
Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair, highlighted the seat’s standout qualities, stating that the Series 9 impressed the airline with its comfort, quality, and intelligent design. Gordon also praised Acro’s team for their professionalism and collaborative approach throughout the procurement process.
Damian Protano, Acro’s Commercial Director, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership. He emphasised FlySafair’s strong industry heritage, noting its foundation by a parent company with over 60 years of aviation experience. Protano described the agreement as a promising beginning, underlining that the Series 9 aligns perfectly with FlySafair’s operational needs due to its comfort, durability, and efficient design.
Both companies have expressed optimism about deepening their partnership in the future, with FlySafair poised to benefit from the enhanced passenger experience and cost-effectiveness that Acro’s seats provide.
