Lufthansa Technik is expanding its footprint in India by deepening its partnership with IndiGo, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing airlines. Under new long-term agreements, Lufthansa Technik has been appointed to provide extensive lease return support and comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for a substantial portion of IndiGo’s Airbus A320-family fleet.
These new contracts cover both base maintenance and single-component maintenance, reinforcing IndiGo’s commitment to fleet readiness and operational efficiency. To meet the scale and flexibility required by the Gurugram-based carrier, Lufthansa Technik will carry out base maintenance services at two of its major global facilities: Lufthansa Technik Sofia in Bulgaria and Lufthansa Technik Philippines. Additionally, single-component maintenance will be handled at the company’s Hamburg workshop, ensuring precise, timely execution of lease return tasks.
IndiGo operates a rapidly growing fleet of A320 and A321 aircraft, with expansion occurring at a remarkable pace — nearly one new aircraft is added each week. The airline’s fleet strategy includes a continued reliance on wet- and damp-leased aircraft to maintain operational agility and scalability in a competitive aviation market.
