ATR, a leading global manufacturer of regional aircraft, and UNI Air, a subsidiary of EVA Air, have formalised a significant agreement to help modernise Taiwan’s domestic aviation market. The deal covers the purchase of 19 ATR 72‑600 turboprop aircraft, along with options for three additional units, marking ATR’s largest single airline order since 2017.

The signing ceremony brought together Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, CEO of ATR, and Lin Chi-Chung, Chairman of UNI Air, alongside senior executives from ATR, UNI Air, EVA Air and representatives from Taiwan’s transport authorities. Their presence has underscored the government’s strong support for developing air links to Taiwan’s offshore islands and eastern regions, demonstrating the strategic importance of domestic air transport for regional connectivity.

The ATR 72‑600, known for its efficiency and sustainability, will allow the airline to both modernise and expand its operations. The fleet renewal is particularly focused on enhancing services to Taiwan’s remote destinations such as Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu, areas where reliable air access is essential for local communities.

With delivery and full integration expected by 2032, UNI Air’s fleet will grow from 14 to 19 aircraft, representing a capacity increase of more than 20%. This modernisation initiative aligns with ATR and UNI Air’s shared goal of delivering more accessible, sustainable and efficient travel across Taiwan. The expanded fleet will strengthen UNI Air’s role as a key connector for remote communities, supporting regional economic growth while promoting greener aviation practices.
