Air France-KLM has announced the appointment of Adriaan Den Heijer as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), effective September 1, 2025. He will succeed Angus Clarke and, for an interim period, will also retain his responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Air France-KLM Cargo. Den Heijer will report directly to Benjamin Smith, CEO of the Air France-KLM Group.
Den Heijer has built an extensive career within the airline group since joining KLM in 1995. He holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Eindhoven and a postgraduate qualification in Certified Financial Management from Amsterdam University. Over three decades, he has held a series of senior commercial and operational positions within KLM, Air France-KLM, and the Cargo division.
His experience includes serving as Director KLM Cargo North and West Europe from 2000 to 2004 and General Manager KLM for Greater China based in Hong Kong from 2004. He later became Vice President Pricing & Revenue Management for KLM Europe, followed by Vice President KLM Marketing & Brand. In 2011, Den Heijer was appointed Senior Vice President KLM Ground Services, overseeing passenger, baggage, and aircraft handling at Schiphol Airport.
He subsequently moved to lead Pricing & Revenue Management for Air France-KLM, where he developed and implemented pricing and revenue strategies across the group’s airlines. Since January 2020, he has served as Executive Vice President of Air France-KLM Cargo, leading its global cargo operations.
This appointment signals continuity in the group’s commercial strategy while leveraging Den Heijer’s deep expertise in pricing, revenue management, marketing, and operational leadership gained over a long career with the airline group.
