SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost airline, has taken delivery of its latest aircraft, the Airbus A321neo, increasing its total fleet size to 14. This acquisition aligns with the airline’s strategy to improve operational efficiency, enhance passenger experience and support environmental sustainability.
The A321neo is powered by advanced CFM LEAP-1A engines, delivering up to 20% lower fuel consumption per seat and significantly reduced CO₂ emissions. It also surpasses environmental benchmarks, producing 50% less nitrogen oxides and reducing noise levels by over 15 decibels compared to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. These improvements reflect SalamAir’s commitment to adopting environmentally responsible technologies across its operations.
Configured to carry 212 passengers, the new aircraft features a modern cabin designed for passenger comfort and connectivity, including USB charging ports at every seat. Its extended range of up to 4,000 nautical miles allows SalamAir to operate more efficiently on existing routes while exploring new medium- and long-haul destinations.
The arrival of the A321neo forms part of SalamAir’s broader growth strategy focused on fleet modernisation, network diversification and operational excellence. With an expanded and younger fleet, the airline is well-positioned to boost frequencies on high-demand routes and enter new markets, supporting Oman’s ambitions to strengthen its aviation sector and expand its tourism footprint.
By incorporating the A321neo into its operations, SalamAir not only improves passenger experience but also contributes to the country’s environmental goals and enhances its ability to compete on an international scale. This milestone highlights the airline’s focus on sustainable growth and long-term value for both customers and Oman’s economy.
