Latvian flag carrier airBaltic transported more than half a million passengers in July 2025, though the figure represented a slight year-on-year decline. The airline carried 539,300 passengers across all its bases, a drop of 4% compared to July 2024. Flight operations also eased slightly, with around 4,455 flights recorded – down 0.7% – while the load factor stood at 86.4%, reflecting a modest decrease of 2.4 percentage points.
The airline explained that the minor decline in monthly performance was anticipated, as it stemmed largely from network optimisation measures introduced earlier in the year. These adjustments were designed to improve efficiency and align capacity more closely with demand trends. Despite this, the carrier’s wider results for 2025 remain positive, with the January to July period marking the strongest performance in its history.
Between January and July, airBaltic carried 2,900,900 passengers across its network – the highest number ever recorded for the first seven months of a year. This represents a 4.6% increase compared with the same period in 2024. Operational activity also expanded, with flights up by 2.6% to 26,969. The average load factor across the seven-month period reached 79.5%, a record high for the airline in this timeframe, and 0.6 percentage points higher year-on-year.
The figures underline the airline’s resilience in balancing short-term fluctuations with long-term growth. While July showed a marginal softening in results, the broader picture highlights sustained passenger demand and the success of network strategies implemented earlier in 2025. With record-high first-half figures and strengthened operational efficiency, airBaltic is positioned to maintain momentum as it heads into the latter part of the year.
