Vietjet has officially begun construction on its Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Center at Long Thanh International Airport, marking a key development in both the airline’s growth and Vietnam’s aviation sector. The project is part of a nationwide programme of 80 landmark initiatives commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), highlighting its symbolic and strategic significance.
The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by senior Vietnamese leaders, including General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with officials from the Party, the State, ministries, agencies, and local authorities, as well as partners from both domestic and international aviation circles. The presence of such dignitaries underscores the importance of the project in advancing Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure and economic development.
With a total investment approaching US$100 million (over VND 1,700 billion), the facility will comprise hangars No. 3 and No. 4 at Long Thanh International Airport, designed to service up to ten aircraft simultaneously. The centre will feature modern infrastructure built to international standards, enabling it to meet the growing maintenance requirements of Vietjet’s expanding fleet while offering technical support for other domestic and international carriers.
The new hub is expected to strengthen Vietnam’s aviation capabilities, particularly in line with Long Thanh International Airport’s vision to become one of the most advanced gateways in the region. Vietjet’s investment reflects the airline’s long-term strategic focus, commitment to sustainable development, and its role as a pioneering private enterprise driving the advancement of the national aviation industry.
Beyond servicing Vietjet’s operations, the Maintenance and Engineering Center is anticipated to contribute to broader industry growth by creating technical expertise, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the country’s integration into the global aviation network.
