Embraer has revealed a bold new visual identity for its KC-390 Millennium demonstrator aircraft during an event at GOL Aerotech’s facilities in Confins, Minas Gerais. This redesign underscores the programme’s strong momentum and reflects the tactical transport aircraft’s defining qualities of speed, agility, durability, reliability, technology and efficiency.
Bosco da Costa Júnior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, hailed the development as a historic milestone, noting that the KC-390’s versatility and performance not only enhance the defence capabilities of its operators but also strengthen interoperability among allied forces worldwide. The new livery is intended to boost international visibility and will feature prominently at forthcoming demonstrations abroad before the end of the year.
The painting of the demonstrator at GOL Aerotech signals wider potential for customer aircraft to receive similar treatment in future, as well as opportunities for expanding Embraer’s production capabilities to meet growing demand.
Since its introduction into service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, the KC-390 has steadily expanded its footprint. The Portuguese Air Force joined the programme in 2023, followed by Hungary in 2024. In active service, the aircraft has achieved an impressive mission completion rate exceeding 99 per cent, demonstrating outstanding productivity and reliability compared with peers in its class.
So far, eleven air forces have opted for the KC-390 Millennium, spanning eight European nations and seven NATO members, cementing its position as a preferred solution for modern tactical airlift requirements. The aircraft’s broad international adoption highlights Embraer’s success in carving out a competitive edge in the medium transport segment.
With its revitalised identity and renewed marketing drive, Embraer is positioning the KC-390 Millennium as not merely a capable tactical transport, but as a symbol of modern defence collaboration in the 21st century.
