Bombardier Defense has announced the delivery of its ninth Bombardier Global aircraft to the United States Air Force (USAF). The handover took place earlier this month at Hanscom Air Force Base. The event marked the continuation of a long and successful partnership between Bombardier and the USAF.
The aircraft joins the USAF’s Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) fleet. Within the Air Force, these aircraft are designated as the E-11A. They are commonly referred to as “Wi-Fi in the sky”. The platform plays a vital role in military operations. It provides enhanced situational awareness and secure interoperability by acting as a high-altitude communications gateway.
The Global aircraft serving under the BACN programme have been central to operations for nearly twenty years. Their missions bridge voice and tactical data between air and land forces. This capability helps overcome communication barriers caused by mountains, harsh landscapes, or long distances. The aircraft have been deployed worldwide, supporting critical operations where seamless communication is essential.
Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President of Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense, expressed pride in the milestone. “At Bombardier Defence, we are honoured to see our reliable, high-performing Global aircraft serve the United States Air Force in critical missions worldwide through the BACN programme,” he said. He also underlined the importance of trust and cooperation. “We are grateful for the longstanding trust of the U.S. Air Force, and we look forward to continuing to support the operational needs of the United States.”
The latest delivery underscores Bombardier Defense’s commitment to supporting global security. It also reflects the confidence placed in the company’s advanced Global aircraft, which continue to provide unmatched reliability and performance in demanding environments.
