Vaeridion GmbH and Deutsche Aircraft GmbH have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The aim is to explore both technical and non-technical enablers in research, technology and development. The partnership focuses on advancing sustainable regional aviation.
The agreement brings together two companies with different strengths. Vaeridion is developing its all-electric Microliner. This is a CS-23 certified commuter aircraft for nine passengers. It is designed for short-haul routes and offers a cost-effective solution for regional connectivity. Deutsche Aircraft is the type certificate holder of the D328. It is also an OEM working on the D328eco®. This 40-seat aircraft is designed to be 100% compatible with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Under the MoU, Deutsche Aircraft will support Vaeridion in testing advanced battery systems. This will be done using the UpLift D-CUPL flying test bed, operated by the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Deutsche Aircraft will also provide expertise in structural design, industrialisation and testing for the Microliner programme.
The collaboration highlights the complementary roles of both companies. Vaeridion is focused on electric propulsion and innovative commuter solutions. Deutsche Aircraft brings decades of experience in larger aircraft, certification, and industrial processes. Together, they aim to create practical technologies that support the next generation of regional aviation.
“This MoU marks a pivotal moment in our journey toward emission-free regional flights,” said Markus Kochs-Kämper, CTO and Managing Director of VÆRIDION. “By uniting our technological expertise with Deutsche Aircraft’s long-standing engineering excellence and design quality, we aim to accelerate the Microliner programme and provide sustainable, cost-effective air travel solutions to underserved markets in Europe and beyond.”
Frederic Fischer, Head of R&T of Deutsche Aircraft, added, “We are proud to collaborate with VÆRIDION in shaping the future of regional aviation. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the transformation of air mobility.”
Both companies are based in the Munich region. They also share a presence at the AirTech Campus in Oberpfaffenhofen Airport. This location strengthens links within the German and European innovation ecosystem. The partnership is also a signal of Bavaria’s growing role as a hub for aviation innovation.
The agreement reflects a shared commitment to developing new aircraft that connect local communities. It also supports the revitalisation of underserved routes with sustainable, efficient solutions. By combining expertise, Vaeridion and Deutsche Aircraft aim to push forward progress in greener regional air travel.
