Chromalloy has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) for its CFM56-5B/7B high pressure turbine (HPT) blade. The company is a global specialist in the aerospace engine aftermarket, and this approval marks a major achievement.
The CFM56-5B/7B engine family powers more than 20,000 aircraft worldwide. The CFM56-5B is used on the Airbus A320 series, while the CFM56-7B powers Boeing 737NG aircraft. Together, they form a large share of the global commercial engine fleet.
Chromalloy’s new HPT Blade is now the only aftermarket alternative to the original manufacturer’s part. It is fully FAA approved and ready for production. The new design joins three existing PMA components for the same platform: the HPT Nozzle Guide Vane, LPT Stage 1 Nozzle Guide Vane, and HPT Shroud.
Chromalloy also offers more than 50 designated engineering representative (DER) repairs for the CFM56 engine family. Of these, 25 are advanced repairs that provide extra value for airlines, leasing companies, and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) providers.
The company has been working closely with global operators to introduce its full suite of CFM56 PMA parts. Its long track record of technical skill and reliability continues to inspire customer confidence.
Demand for the newly approved blade has been high. Orders already cover all planned production for the rest of 2025. Many customers are now reserving manufacturing slots well into 2026.
This latest approval strengthens Chromalloy’s position as a key player in the engine aftermarket. It also supports airlines seeking high-quality, cost-effective alternatives to OEM parts while maintaining the highest safety and performance standards.
