Vietjet, Vietnam’s largest private airline, has converted its June memorandum of understanding into a firm order for 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft. The deal strengthens its strategy for rapid growth and modernisation.
The move also follows its recent order for 20 A330neo widebody aircraft in May, deepening Vietjet’s long-term partnership with Airbus.
Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao described the contract as “a symbol of trust, aspiration, and a shared vision for sustainable development and global connectivity.” Her comments reflect the airline’s ambition to expand its international network while maintaining environmental responsibility.
Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, said the A321neo’s proven efficiency and flexibility make it the ideal choice for Vietjet’s ambitious expansion. When combined with the A330neo, he added, the fleet will deliver excellent operating economics and strong commonality across routes and crews.
The A321neo is the largest aircraft in Airbus’ best-selling A320neo family. It offers longer range and higher performance than earlier models. With new-generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo cuts fuel use and carbon emissions by over 20%. It also reduces noise by 50%, making it one of the quietest aircraft in its class.
Furthermore, the aircraft is designed to enhance passenger comfort while lowering operating costs. Its efficiency helps airlines like Vietjet expand sustainably in competitive markets.
By finalising this major order, Vietjet strengthens its position as a regional leader in modern, fuel-efficient air travel and reinforces its role in driving Vietnam’s growing aviation industry forward.
