AAR has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Aircraft Reconfig Technologies, an aircraft interiors engineering company, from ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions for US$35 million in an all-cash transaction, subject to customary adjustments.
Upon completion, the acquisition will immediately enhance AAR’s engineering and certification capabilities within its Repair & Engineering segment, further differentiating AAR as the leading independent MRO provider in North America.
Aircraft Reconfig Technologies specialises in passenger aircraft reconfiguration for major global airlines. Its end-to-end offering includes project management, engineering and certification for aircraft interior modifications. Founded in 1990, the company employs approximately 100 people and is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The business holds FAA Part 21 and Part 183 Organisation Designation Authorisation (ODA) status and maintains a strong intellectual property portfolio, including patents, Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) and multiple Supplemental Type Certificates. Integrating these capabilities into AAR’s Repair & Engineering segment will expand AAR’s in-house design capacity for more complex aircraft modification programmes and reduce reliance on third parties for design certification.
