The Lufthansa Group and travel technology provider Amadeus have entered into a pioneering partnership aimed at making the booking, amendment and management of flights more intuitive and straightforward for travellers.
Central to the initiative is the introduction of an “Order ID”, a new single identification number that will ultimately replace existing booking and ticket numbers and consolidate all elements of a journey. These include the flight itself, seat reservations, baggage and additional services such as upgrades or lounge access.
By replacing previously separate booking systems, the new approach will give Lufthansa Group customers a clear, end-to-end overview of their entire trip.
Standardisation will enable passengers to rebook more quickly and conveniently, add services, or adjust travel plans at short notice — particularly in the event of disruptions or schedule changes. With a single click, customers will be presented with alternative options and other key travel information. The new technology will also increase transparency, allowing passengers to see more clearly which services are included in their booking and which additional options are available.
The Order ID is being rolled out progressively across several Lufthansa Group airlines and will complement existing services such as Travel ID, which will continue to display the customer’s personal profile.
