Embraer has secured Type Certification from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for several aircraft in its E-jets family, including the E190, E195 and E195-E2, paving the way for broader operations in the country.
The certification supports Embraer’s ambitions in India’s growing regional aviation market and aligns with the government’s UDAN connectivity programme. The E195-E2, the latest-generation variant, offers improved fuel efficiency, lower operating costs and a two-x-two cabin layout with no middle seats.
More than 1,900 E-jets have been delivered worldwide and are in service with over 80 airlines across more than 50 countries. In India, the E175 is already certified and operated by Star Air.
Earlier this year, Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace signed an enhanced memorandum of understanding to explore establishing a final assembly line for the E175 in India as part of the country’s Regional Transport Aircraft programme.
